Biography

Hamdi is a Managing Partner at B.Av. He has been named as one of the TOP 50 Indonesia’s Future Legal Leaders by Asia Business Law Journal 2022.

Hamdi has vast experience in assisting both national and international companies in a broad range of commercial transactions, e.g., foreign investments, mergers & acquisitions, real estates, constructions, trades and capital markets. Previously, Hamdi was a corporate lawyer at Indonesia’s prominent law firm, HHP Law Firm (Baker & McKenzie) and also a Commissioner at a multinational shipping company.

He holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Universitas Padjadjaran and a Master of Law degree (with Merit) from the University of Lancaster, UK. He received a prestigious scholarship from the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) and was selected as “The LPDP Best Talent Alumni”. The University of Lancaster also awarded him “The Lancaster Award 2015” for the excellence of his academic achievements and contributions to society.

Hamdi loves writing. He is a legal author for The Law Reviews (UK), The Jakarta Post Newspaper and Bank Permata Priority Magazine. In 2015, he was invited as a Speaker by the Law Annual International Conference at the University of Oxford to discuss the issues between Regional Free Trade Agreements and the WTO.

Hamdi holds an Indonesian BAR License. He is also licensed as a Capital Market Legal Consultant by the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan) and the Association of Capital Market Legal Consultant (Himpunan Konsultan Hukum Pasar Modal).

Assisting and representing PT Indosiar Karya Media Tbk in a merger worth IDR 2.9 trillion with PT Surya Citra Mandiri Tbk through the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
Assisting and representing an airport services regional state-owned company in a merger worth IDR 1.9 trillion with an aerocity real estate management company.
Assisting and representing a Canadian group of companies in the acquisition of 7 gold mining companies in Aceh valued at IDR 650 billion.
Assisting and representing PT Bank Tabungan Negara in the issuance of Securitized Assets Backed Securities (KIK-EBA) valued at IDR 1 trillion in 2013 at the Indonesian Stock Exchange.
Assisting and representing two multinational warehouse real estate developer companies in acquiring 41.1 hectares land in Bekasi Regency valued at IDR 1.2 trillion from 2 national real estate companies.
Assisting and representing a multinational serviced apartment company in acquiring 216 strata titles of apartment units in Jakarta valued at IDR 675 billion from a major national real estate company.

Biography

Towy is a Partner at B.Av. He has been named as one of the TOP 50 Indonesia’s Future Legal Leaders by Asia Business Law Journal 2022.

As a lawyer, he has more than 10 years comprehensive experience in a wide range of litigation (both commercial and criminal litigations) and employment matters, and also been involved in numerous notable land acquisition projects in Indonesia, mostly in power projects. Besides practicing as a lawyer, he is also a Co-Founder of a legal-tech start-up company, known as Pop Legal. Previously, he was a lawyer at two Indonesia’s top tier law firms, i.e., Assegaf Hamzah & Partners and Makarim & Taira S.

Towy always follows to strict ethical principles when representing clients, especially before Indonesian courts, arbitration and government authorities. His practice does not only focus on litigation proceedings, but also aims to provide advice to clients on how to minimize potential risks related to litigation issues, land acquisition, and employment matters.

He holds a Bachelor of Law degree (with Cum Laude) from Universitas Padjadjaran and a Master of Law degree (with Cum Laude) from Universitas Indonesia.

He is a member of PERADI (Indonesian Bar Association) and holds an Indonesian BAR License to practice before the Indonesian courts.

Assisting and representing PT Frisian Flag Indonesia on the construction project of its new factory with an area of 25.4 hectares in Cikarang worth around IDR3.8 trillion.
Assisting and representing PT Central Java Power/Sumitomo Subsidiary on the acquisition of approximately 70 hectares land area (from around 280 plots of land) in Tubanan Village, Jepara Regency, Central Java for constructing expansion to the Tanjung Jati B Power Plants (2 x 1,000 MW) and additional ash pond area of Tanjung Jati B power plants in 2013 ‐ 2016 and handling its land certification at the National Land Office in Jakarta.
Assisting and representing PT Frisian Flag Indonesia in relation to the land acquisition of approximately 25 hectares area in Cikarang with a value of approximately IDR 400 billion for the development of its new factory.
Towy was the initiator in proposing the inclusion of Power Plants as one of premises that can be certificated within the seashore area (sempadan pantai) for the first time in Indonesia. The proposal was submitted to the Minister of Agrarian Affairs/the Head of the National Land Office in 2015 (Mr. Ferry Mursidan Baldan) and as the result, he served circular letters to certain power projects in Indonesia and issued Regulation No. 17 of 2016 regarding the Land Management in Coastal Areas and Small Islands in 2016.
Successfully representing PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia in pursuing their receivables worth IDR 3 billion to a defaulting distributor.
Successfully won the case against PT Sentul City Tbk in the first and final instance of court proceedings, in representing a resident committee in a civil lawsuit as a defendant (pro bono case).
Assisting and Representing PT KBR Indonesia and Kellogg Brown & Root Pty Ltd in the manpower dispute against its foreign employees (with claims worth USD 900,000) and succesfully won the case in the Jakarta Industrial Relations Court at the Central Jakarta District Court.
Assisting and representing Monsanto group of companies in its employment terminations in Tangerang and Surabaya and advisory works for its employment related matters.

Biography

Efraim is an Of Counsel at B.Av. He also serves as a Commissioner at a Non-Bank Financial Services Institution.

Efraim’s areas of expertise cover bankruptcy and suspension of debt payment obligations, foreign investments, mergers & acquisitions as well as real estates. Previously, Efraim was a lawyer at two Indonesia’s top tier law firms namely HHP Law Firm (Baker & McKenzie) and Hiswara, Bunjamin & Tandjung (Herbert Smith Freehills).

He holds a Bachelor of Law degree (with Cum Laude) from Universitas Kristen Indonesia and a Master of Law degree from Tilburg University, the Netherlands, as the recipient of the Tilburg University Scholarship Programme in 2012.

He holds the Indonesian BAR License under PERADI (Indonesian Bar Association) and the Receiver & Administrator License for Bankruptcy under IKAPI (Indonesian Association for Receivers and Administrators for Bankruptcy).
