Biography

Ridwan is a Partner at B.Av. He has extensive experience in handling selected criminal cases and a wide range of commercial disputes in Indonesia. These disputes vary from one industry to another.

Regionally speaking, Ridwan has been involved in settling disputes through South East Asia Region as well as solving legal issues occurring in Europe and North America. Domestically, Ridwan has been extensively involved in providing legal advice to numerous corporations, bodies, institutions and state-owned enterprises, e.g., ASEAN Head quarter in Jakarta, the Government of DKI Jakarta and PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk.

Ridwan possess knowledge from Australian, Indonesian and American legal systems as his academic backgrounds were acquired in these countries. His economic and political degree (Bachelor of Arts and Business) were acquired from Monash University whilst his Bachelor of Law degree was obtained from Universitas Indonesia. As for Master of Law degree (LL.M), Ridwan graduated from UC Berkeley. Ridwan is decorated with Honors from these three prominent universities.

Ridwan is a member of PERADI (Indonesian Bar Association) and holds an Indonesian BAR License to practice before the Indonesian courts. Also, Ridwan is qualified to sit for the Bar Exams in the State of California as well as New York.

These are the glimpse of Ridwan’s representative types of work:

  • Assisting and Representing PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk (Waskita Karya) on the dispute against its subcontractor in the Western Kalimantan Province. The dispute involved a project on infrastructure industry developed in Kalimantan region. As per the conclusion of the dispute, Waskita Karyawon the law suitand the plaintiff had to pay all cost related to the litigation process.
  • Representing PT CIU Insurance Indonesia in the litigating a lawsuit (as plaintiff) against PT Skyaviation Indonesia. The dispute was regarding investment activities made in Skyaviation for its objective in procuring Sukhoi Superjet 100. The litigation was successful as PT CIU was awarded both material damages and subsequent compensation as legal remedies.
  • Assisting and representing an Indonesian citizen against PT Nordic Maritime, a shipment and surveyor company. The lawsuit was about shareholders dispute which subsequently turned into a civil lawsuit lodged by a private individual. The outcome of the litigation process was positive and victorious for our client.
  • Successfully representing PT Graha Jasa Ekatama in a land dispute against PT Djawimex Indonesia. The disputed property was a prime location in Southern Jakarta with a size of 47,000 square meters. The value of the litigation was in the amount of IDR 250 billion. The litigation had been concluded after 12 months of court proceedings with the ownership of the land awarded to our client.
  • Litigating criminal cases involving corporate embezzlement and fraud in the amount of IDR 150 billion perpetuated by the officers of the company (PT FIM Jasa Ekatama as the complainant). The report was made in Polda Metro Jaya (PMJ) and the case had been concuded through a settlement agreement.
  • Representing and assisting Stargate Asia, a company in Kendari, Southeastern Sulawesi, in regards toits nickel license permit. The representation was focused in facing the Office of the Governor of Southern Sulawesi as well as other nickel mining company. The representation includes litigation in the Administrative Court, Civil Court as well as National Police Headquarter. The outcome of this litigation process was positive as the courts granted our lawsuit and handing the permit to our client.
